ANCAT started in 1993 to provide technical services and manufacturing capability in the composite industry. The company now focuses on providing technical services to a variety of industries. These include

• Motorsport
• Fire services
• Composite manufacturers
• General mechanical analysis and safety

ANCAT is led by Gordon Forbes, a mechanical engineer specialising in high performance composites. He has developed projects in motorsport, rail, petrochemical industry and aerospace using leading edge technologies. Gordon was involved in original use of carbon fibre structures in motorsport including Formula 1 and Sports cars.

ANCAT has provided technical services to the motorsport governing body, the FIA, for many years. Services including

• Official observer of FIA safety testing.
• Technical delegate. Overseeing technical issues and administrating these at the racetracks.

 

ANCAT is currently providing Technical Services to the FIA Institute to support specific research projects. Currently this includes

• Leading fire research for the industry on developing robust new regulations for rallying and other off road sports

ANCAT also collaborates with other engineering companies and represents Laser Optical Engineering products in specialist markets.
